Chris Jasper - Everything I Do If you are familiar with THE ISLEY BROTHERS, then you know CHRIS JASPER, an integral member of THE ISLEY BROTHERS during the 1970s and 1980s—their gold and platinum years—from the “3+3” (1973) to “Go All The Way” (1980) albums. These were the years when THE ISLEY BROTHERS were a self-produced, self-contained major recording act. When the six members of THE ISLEY BROTHERS disbanded (1984), Marvin and Ernie Isley joined CHRIS JASPER and formed ISLEY-JASPER-ISLEY. They topped the charts singing lead vocals on “Caravan of Love” (1985).

This album "Everything I Do" of Chris Jasper contained 10 tracks. Five tracks are from several previous released albums from the eighties and nineties. But this album feature also five brand new tracks. All the tracks, old or new, are very funky, typical Chris Jasper tunes. The new tunes could be written in the eighties and they sound that way. Of course you will hear Isley Brothers influences. No problem with that ;-)

If you listen to the Title track "Everything I Do" it looks like it's recorded in the eighties, very funky. One of my favorite tracks on this album. All ingredients are available. Nice melody, bass line, vocoders etc. The same is true for 'Doing My Thing' which have a lot of Isley Brother influences.

Track #3 'In Your Face' is from his second solo album 'Time Bomb' from the late eighties, which is a superb album as well. From his album 'Deep Inside' are two tracks the uptempo 'Nobody My Baby' and 'Don't take your love away' with that typical bass synth sound. This track sounds like a mix of the Controllers and Marvin Gaye. Two other mid-tempo funk tracks with a great sound are 'Earthquake' and 'Stand up'. From his solo debut album 'Super Bad' from 1987.

You probably notice that all his albums are released on Gold City Records, even this one, not strange because it's his own independent record label. On this label you will also find material of Liz Hogue and from his son Michael Jasper.

When you are a Isley Brother fan, or not, but you want to listen to funky tracks then this album is something for you. This album is for sale at CDBABY
