Paul Laurence is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and producer. Born on March 25, 1949, in Harlem, New York, Laurence grew up in a musical family and began playing the piano at a young age. He attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art in New York City, where he honed his skills as a musician.

In the 1970s, Laurence worked as a songwriter and producer for a number of R&B acts, including Freddie Jackson and Melba Moore. He co-wrote Jackson's hit single "Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake)," which became a number one R&B hit in 1985.

Laurence also released his own music as a solo artist, starting with his 1985 debut album, "The Striker," which included the hit single "I Ain't Wit' It." He followed up with a self-titled album in 1989, which featured the hit single "She's My Only Love." The album also included the song "For You," which was later covered by Kenny Lattimore and became a hit in the 1990s.

Throughout his career, Laurence has continued to write and produce for other artists, including Stephanie Mills, Bobby Brown, and Evelyn "Champagne" King. He has also collaborated with jazz musicians, including George Benson and Grover Washington Jr.

Laurence's music is known for its smooth, soulful sound and romantic lyrics. His songs have become R&B classics and continue to be played on radio stations and at parties and events around the world.

In recognition of his contributions to the music industry, Laurence was inducted into the R&B Hall of Fame in 2018. Today, he continues to write, produce, and perform music, and remains a respected figure in the R&B and soul music communities.
