The Group members Elette Ricks / Tawatha / Àngela Winbush met at the Howard College of Fine Arts, they were all music majors and they’d be in the practice rooms singing they got together and started singing, and became a group. On that university they met James Mtume and Reggie Lucas. They did some songs, demoed some songs for Mtume, and then they came up to New York to sing at a showcase for Dick Scott, who was a CBS executive at the time.

There are some Hot Tea recordings out there but not official. There might be a few cassettes floating around according Tawatha. Add/Complete Bio
