Bio

Final Mix is James Sessoms, Kevin Price, Carl T. Smith and Stuart Brown.

James Sessoms was born in Ahoskie, N.C. . He grew up singing in the church and in school glee clubs, while in Jr. high school and high school. While in high school, he helped form his first singing group, The Designers which consisted of one female and three males. Upon completing high school, the group moved to New York City, not knowing anyone or having any connections. They searched the telephone book for a record producer and as luck would have it, like the old "Andy Hardy" movies, they fjound one. They met him on the corner of 57th St and Broadway (also known as the great white way at the time) and accompanied him to a recording studio. Shortly thereafter they recorded their first record for the Date record label which was one of CBS's group of labels. Similar to most artists of that time, their first record went nowhere. They then signed their second recording which went like the first one with Dyanmo Records. John parted with the group the Designers to join another singing group called Shock. They met singer/songwriter Ronald McCoy of the group called The Topics. McCoy brought them to Sirocco Records where he co-produced one of his songs entitled "Why Should I Forgive You". In the 1970's as the record began to take off the group broke up. In the 1980's John moved over to the Br-oma side of the label with the new group, NYC wiht two new members, Kevin Price and Tony Robinson. They recorded "Don't Rush Me Now" and "Da Ja Vu". The name of the group was changed to "The Gentlemen from New York CIty". They were joined by Frank Frier and recorded "You're My Lady", The group moved on and signed with Friendship Records. In the late 1980's as the music industry was changing with the ? of James and Kevin the group was reformed to the current name Final Mix.

Kevin Wesley Price was born under the sign of Pisces a/k/a/ the fish. He is a compassionate, idealistic and psychic person. In 1971, while in High school, with other classmates, he helped form his first group called "The Outcast". He remained with the Outcasts from 1971 to 1974. From 1974 to 1978 he joined a second group called "Champaign". Therafter, Kevin sang with a number of other artists. He got a call from a friend asking hin to join his group "The Bankers". It was common for many groups at that time to have members come and go. In the 1980's the group was reformed with the late Tony Robinson and James Sessoms. The group NYC made their first recording with Br-oma Records, They recorded "Don't Rush Me Now" and "Da Ja Vu" with producer, Bruce Clarke. When they added a fourth member, they were renamed "The Gentlemen of New York City". They recorded "You're My Lady" whiich was the number one up and coming rating from Billboard. Frank Frier left the group and was replaced by Terry Bellary. The group of four remained until the passing of Tony Robinson, who was replaced by Stuart Brown in 2004. In 2008 the group started a project "Something For Everyone". While working on the project, the group turned to arranger Carl T. Smith and producer Bruce Clarke to help complete the project. The sound of the group now named FInal Mix was full and strong but it was agreed by all that to make the full sound needed, the sweet one of a kind fourth voice would be needed.

Carl T. Smith is a A native New Yorker, born in the Bronx following in his father's footsteps, he has a great love for music. In Junior High School he realized his life calling as a musician. His interest in music led him to music production, songwriting, singing, and arranging from studio work to road musician for artists such as Bobby Brown, New Edition and the list goes on. He has done it all and then some. As a performer, he lives up to his nick name, "The Smooth 1" when he sings these romantic, old school flavor song arrangements he does so well. He is truly a hopeless romantic as a member of Final Mix and he adds a sweet tone with his voice as well as his musical talents as a producer/arranger as heard here on The "Love Zone".

Stuart Brown Was born in Charleston, S.C. and moved to NYC in 1960. In 1965 he made the "Boogie Down Bronx" his home. He grew up as a Baptist singing gospel with his family. He began singing R&B in high school with a group called "The Composed Majestics". He later tried his hand at promoting R&B shows and dances. He then started as an opening act for acts such as Harold Melvin & the blue Notes, The Chi-Lites, Ray Goodman & Brown, The Manhattans, The Delfonics, Colonel Abrams, and GQ. He went back to singing gospel with his family group at the Convent Ave. Baptist Church where he also sang in the Male Choir, During this time, he met James Sessoms and Kevin Price who needed a replacement for their group, due to the passing of long time member Tony Robinson to complete the group. Collectively they had the same dream, which was to record an album. Together, they began a project called "Something For Everyone" under the group name "Final Mix". Together they came to Br-roma Records and producer Bruce Clarke to work out the project. As producer, he felt they needed a fourth to bring out their unique, sweet, soulful sound. They agreed at the prompting of Mr. Clarke to add the member. They went to the project arranger, songwriter, producer, Carl T. Smith and asked him to join the group with the fourth member. They began working on a project which became "The Love Zone", the sweet soulful sound you hear on this CD.
