David Hollister is an American R&B singer-songwriter who was born on August 17, 1968, in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in a musical family and started singing in church at a young age. As a teenager, he formed a gospel group with his cousins called the Hollister Brothers, which gained a local following in Chicago. He is a cousin of K-Ci & JoJo.

In the early 1990s, Hollister became a member of the R&B group Blackstreet, which was formed by Teddy Riley. He contributed lead and backing vocals to the group's debut album, and co-wrote several of the album's tracks. However, he left the group after their first album to pursue a solo career.

Hollister's solo debut album, "Ghetto Hymns," was released in 1999 and featured the hit singles "One Woman Man" and "Baby Mama Drama." The album was a commercial and critical success, and established Hollister as a major force in the R&B music scene.

Over the years, Hollister released several successful albums, including "Chicago '85...The Movie" (2000), "Things in the Game Done Changed" (2002), and "The Book of David: Vol. 1 The Transition" (2006). His music was characterized by its smooth, soulful sound, and his powerful and emotive vocals.

In addition to his success as a recording artist, Hollister is also known for his songwriting and production work. He has written and produced songs for a number of artists, including Blackstreet, Teddy Riley, and Lisa Stansfield.
