Stephanie Mills Is One Of The Most Gifted R&b/soul Singers To Ever Be Put Down On Wax. Unfortunately, She Along With So Many Other Fantastic Soul Vocalists Were Prematurely Fazed Out Of The Music Industry With The Massive Domination Of Hip-hop. "I've Got The Cure" Was Released Before Hip-hop Took Over And R&b Was Still The Driving Force Behind The Urban Music Scene. While Far From The Best Album Release By Mills, "I've Got The Cure" Contained Some Wonderful Vocal Moments. "The Medicine Song" Was A Moderate Hit During It's Initial Release Fuled By An Impressive Vocal Workout By Mills (check Out The Vocal Ad-libs At Songs Fade). On The Track "In My Life", Stephanie Begs And Pleads With Vocals Soaring Up To The Heavens And Swooping Back Down Into A Sultry Growl (like Only Ms.Mills Can). The Stand-out Track However, Is The Beautifully Rendered Cover Of Kenny Loggins, "Give It Half A Chance". Here Stephanie Shows Just How Gifted She Is At Interpreting A Song Lyric. She Never Over Sings On This Track, Yet Gives An Emotional And Tempered Performance. It Stands As One Of My Personal Favorites. There Are A Few "filler" Tracks Here, But "I've Got The Cure" Is An Album/cd Worth Seeking Out By Any Fan.
