Al B Sure is back on the scene with a new album 'Honey i'm home' and will be released on june 23.

The album contains 13 brand new 'romancing' tracks. All thirteen tracks are downtempo tracks. Two of them are covers.

The album starts with the single "I love it (Papi Aye Aye Aye)", co-produced by his writing and producing partner Kyle West, is very tuneful, sexy and sounds if he was never been away. Vocals are beautiful, and contains nice analog synth sounds. One of the best tracks. Other great tracks are "Only you" and "4 Life!". "I'm glad" track #3 has also a nice bass line. "All I Wanna do" an urban track with vocoders. Sexy girl on the back! A Favourite one. Two slowtempo tracks "Dedicate My All" and "Bye the Way, By the Way" are assisted by an acoustic guitar. A nice synth sound walks as a melodie line through "Only You!", nice chords and vocals. The track "Whatcha Got?" is very urban, with strange bass line. Another favourite is track #12 "4Life!" the last track "Never Stop Loving You" is too much pop. The two covers are Stings 'Fragile' and Michael Jacksons "Lady in My Life". Pleasantly done with an urban, R&B twist but, for me, it remain covers.

All and all an album for lovers of smooth R&B.

Paris Ford, aka Pee Wee Ford in the 80s, started his career 1980 on Arthur Baker's record label Streetwise with the tune 'Be My Girl'. In 1981 he was asked by Jacques Fred Petrus to be the bass player for the funk formation 'B B and Q Band'. They had a huge hit with 'On The Beat'. See the album cover for a early picture of Ford the debut album by B B and Q Band.  He also played the bass on most sampled track '7 minutes of funk' by Tyrone Thomas and The Whole Darn Family This track is sampled by: who not ;-)

He toured and played bass for a lot off 80s artist like Rick James, Evelyn 'Champagne' King, New Edition, and Johnny Gill.

He started his own record company Overlord Entertainment Group where he just released his Mega Maxi Single and Dance Anthem 'Chocolate Swirl'. This track features Kyon, DJ-Hype, Sheek Da Freak ans lost but not least 'James Robinson', former lead singer of the funk group 'Change'.

This Single consist of 12 different mixes with or without Rap. The lyrics are inspiring and the music make u dance your ass off.

Peabo Bryson newest CD missing you Peabo Bryson is back on the soul scene. After 8 years of silence he finally recorded a new, his twentieth, album 'Missing You' and for the first time on Peak records.  On this album he collaborate with less and well known artists. When I opened the envelope and read the back cover information I knew that this album would be great. The reason is Barry J. Eastmond, he produced mainly this album

CD review Douyé - Journey

Star InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar InactiveStar Inactive
Douye Journey

This debut CD of Nigerian Born Douye consist of eleven smoothfull, sensual jazzy soul tracks. The voice of Douye is very sensual comparable with Sade or Anita Baker. This album was released in 2008.

Fly away is a lowtempo jazzy soul track with nice chords. 'On For You' is A 'Sade' type of song, mellow, smooth and good. If you like jazzy guitar licks then 'In Love With You' is a song for you. Smooth sound and the sensual voice of Douye does the rest. The title track of the CD 'Journey' is a real jazz tune. A little more uptempo as previous tracks is 'Still Hurting' sounds good but is not one of the best tracks on this CD.
'Wicked World' starts like a 70s tune. This tune consists of nice tempo variations. Nice chorus. The downtempo track number 8 'Waiting For My Man' is pretty good.
Nice Wah Wah start on 'Walk Away' is also a jazzy soul track. 'A day in Paradise' is more a midtempo pop song. The 'Voice' is a low tempo track but it's not my type of song. Overall is this CD jazzy and get better every time you listen to it. 4
