Shirley brown started as many other soul singers in een gospel choir. She recorded two gospel albums for the Abet Label before she was discovered by Albert King. Al Jackson produced her debut album "Woman to woman". This album sold over a million copies in the US and was topping the charts. Her second album was for the label Arista. Her third 'For The Real Feeling'was her latest in the 70s after that she disappeared from the scene until 1984 with her album 'Intimate Storm'. In 1989 she sang a duet with Bobby Womack 'Ain't nothin' like the lovin' we.
