Here are some Liners from October '87 from the B&S Magazine. 
  • THE new single from British duo Total Contrast is "Kiss", a track culled from the duo's forthcoming second album on London Records. The track is produced by Steve Harvey. Harvey is also working with another British star, Steven Dante, in Los Angeles where they are writing songs together for Dante's debut album. Steven has just finished recording two tracks in New York with Jellybean — with whom he is the singer, of course, on Benitez's hit "The Real Thing" — and after his Los Angeles trip, will go to Minneapolis where Monte Moir will produce some tracks for the album. A single is expected before Christmas.
  • Brick house, who we featured in the last issue of B&S, have had their independently-released single "We" picked up by Westside Records for forthcoming release.
  • Lanier & Co have their second single for Syncopate released this month. The track is entitled "I Don't Know" and appears on the band's forthcoming Willie Mitchell — produced album, "Dancing In The Night".
  • Yargo, a new Manchester band who have caused quite a stir on the live circuit, have released a single entitled "Help" on their own Body Heat label. Having been on the road for two months, the band play a one-off date at The Hacienda, Manchester on October 29th, soon after releasing their debut album.
  • Creole Records have re-released two classic singles of the sixties — "Cool Jerk" (CR 109) by The Capitals and "Da Doo Ron Ron" (CR 108) by The Crystals. The Crystals are also currently on a national tour, with the remainder of the dates included in Date sheets. • Serious Production have three major jazz acts on the road through October and November — British saxophonist Andy Sheppard and his band, ECM recording artists Paul Bley and Miles Davis sideman, guitarist John Scofield with his quartet (see Date Sheets).
  • The Whispers new single, "No Pain No Gain", features a six minute 'uptown mix' of "Contageous", "It's A Love Thing", "And The Beat Goes On" and "Rock Steady" on the B-side of the twelve inch.
  • Two new singles from Arista soul/jazz acts are La La's "We'll Keep On Striving" and Kenny G's "Don't Make Me Wait For Love".
  • DJ International recording artists JM Silk Featuring Keith Nummally, Darryl Pandy, Full House, Joe Smooth, Chip £ and Frankie Knuckles begin their British tour at The Town & Country Club, Kentish Town on Sunday, November 15th. Tickets are £6.50 and available from the venue's box office.
  • Aside from supporting Trouble Funk on 24th October at Brixton Acadmy, Well Red also play The Wag Club (22), City University, London (23) and Waterman's Centre, Brentford (25) this month.
  • Def Jam/CBS have released "Read My Mind" b/w "You've Got The Right Attitude" in both 7" and 12" format as the new single from Tashan.
  • Polydor have released a Danny D-mixed twelve inch of "Before Too Long" as the new single from David Grant. Taken from his album "Changes", and featuring Madeline Bell on backing vocals, the single (also on 7") features a new previously unreleased tune called "Tonight" on the B-side.
  • Magnum Music will release an album entitled "Christmas Soul Special" (BMLP 056) on October 30th.
  • Freddy Bastone, the prolific New York re-mix special who has most recently been asigned to remix old tunes for Motown (the first example of which was the recent hit "Papa Was A Rolling Stone") is currently in England working on new projects at Good Earth Studios in London's Soho.
  • Young South Coast born saxophonist Vaughan Hawthorne has just had his debut album released on CD. Entitled "Emanon", the album appears on the new label Intouch and is produced by Marsalis brother Delfeayo.
  • Derek B, signed by the Profile label in the US, has remixed his club hit "Get Down" for release in the States and his label, Music Of Life, are to make the mix available in the UK too.
  • Cindy Birdsong — an original Supreme — has a new single released entield "Dancing Room" on Hi-Hat Records. The track is written by Leeson & Vale who scored with the song "Roses", recorded by Haywoode.
  • To coincide with the visit of Chuck Brown & The Soul Searchers, Rhythm King have repackaged and re-released their double album "Live — DC Bumpin' Y'all".
  • Spike Lee's next film, "School Daze", will feature two separate tunes from fellow Jamaica Boys — one from Lenny White entitled "Perfect Match" and another from Marcus Miller and Mark Stevens called "Da Butt".
  • Ichiban has signed Little Johnny Taylor to its Blues roste and Roshell Anderson to its soul roster. Both have albums early next year — Taylor's produced by Gary B.B. Coleman. Roshell's features a stunning update of his deep soul gem, "Know What You're Doing When You Leave" — plus a far, far out ballad called "Nature's Way", the LP's title cut that'll have you deep soul freaks a-humming. The new Clarence Carter LP, "Hooked On Love", hit the streets on October 19, ancl Ichiban also launched its gospel label, Miracle, during October. 8
