Sister Sledge Kicks Off 2014
Soul and Funk Music.com will air a special interview with Sister Sledge on January 1st, New Years Day at 22.00 CET on the webradiostream in a exclusive episode of Back to the Old School. Radio host Jeffrey Williams will meet Joni and Debra and he'll introduce us to a 'new sister' Tanya Tiet, who is singer during the 2013 Sister Sledge world tour. Tanya will collaborate with the new Sister Sledge album which is due for spring 2014. From now on she's a new sister in the family.
 | 50 years ago in 1959 Berry Gordy, the founder of Tamla Records, signs an $800 loan agreement with Ber-Berry, the Gordy family co-op fund, to incorporate his Tamla Motown Record Company in Detroit, hitsville USA. Motown is the abbreviation of "Motor Town" a nickname for Detroit. Motown played an important role in the racial integration of popular music, as it was the first record label owned by an African American to primarily feature African-American artists who achieved crossover success. In the 1960s, Motown and its soul-based subsidiaries were the most successful proponents of what came to be known as "The Motown Sound", a style of soul music with a distinct pop influence. "The Motown Sound" was primarily made by the Funk Brothers for the most Motown Records recordings from 1959 until 1972.

Now you have the chance to meet the legendary artist Randy Muller at Soul Brother Records on 29 March 2014. Randy Muller was the front man of the eighties funk band Brass Construction who scored many hits these days.
On Saturday 28th December rising US soulstress Kenya Soulsinger will be in Soul Brother Records store in Putney London between 3.30-4.30pm signing copies of her new album ‘Love You to life’ , I hope that you can join us in meeting her. We heard the sad news that David Peaston has died on the 1st of February. Peaston started his career in 1989 with his debut album 'Introducing: David Peaston' on Geffen Rcords. A few years later in 1991 David recorded 'Mixed Emotions' on MCA. He also collaborated with Gladys Knight.
May David Rest in Peace. He shall be missed.
