Released in 1978, Future Bound was the third album that Freddie Perren produced for Tavares and was the group's sixth album overall. Once again, Perren sees to it that Tavares provides a healthy blend of up-tempo dance numbers and romantic soul ballads like "Feel So Good" and "All I See Is You", Northern soul ballads that would have fit right in on a Stylistics, Delfonics, or Moments album.

A nice early 80s set from The Reddings – the group featuring two sons of Otis Redding and a sweet set of funk steeped R&B! Dexter Redding plays bass, and there's a whole lot of bass in the mix, bringing some funk into the groove very nicely – with some post disco pop soul melodic numbers, that work very well, too. The Reddings bring out a mix of tighter, leaner numbers with pop funk style with a couple of sweet, string accented slow jams on Class and it's solid stuff! Titles include "Class (Is What You Got)", "If You Feel It", "Main Nerve", "Hurts So Bad", "Love Dance", "Love Is Over" and more > |

Spotlight on for the long awaited debut album by Tokyo Dawn's first lady Amalia! 'Art Slave' is a colorful manifesto for the passion of art, the strength of heart and the need for funk in all stages of life.
This time, Amalia bravely commands her own starship and pays homage to the strong women of soul who catalyzed her ingenuity such as Chaka Khan, Sheila E, Eartha Kitt and Betty Davis. Produced by the Swedish funk extraordinaire Opolopo, 'Art Slave' is sonically and musically influenced by late 80s/early 90s New Jack Swing and Boogie, but definitely sets its own standards. AD Bourke, Atjazz & Son Of Kick deliver the bonus remixes for this release. Check 'Welcome to Me' and 'Luxurious' both are absolute killers! > |

The Main Ingredient was formed in Harlem in 1964 as a trio called the Poets, composed of lead singer Donald McPherson, Luther Simmons, Jr., and Panama-born Tony Silvester. In 1966 they were signed to RCA and after a couple of singles with small success they changed their name in The Main Ingredient. Unfortunately Donald McPherson who had taken ill with leukemia, passed away unexpectedly. Silvester and Simmons regrouped with new lead singer Cuba Gooding, who'd served as a backing vocalist on some of their previous recordings and had filled in on tour during McPherson's brief illness. > |
