Oliver Cheatham, known by the MCA single 'Get Down Saturday night', released a new single on Soul Junction Records. Following on from “Get Down Saturday Night” Oliver continued to score chart success with “SOS”, “Celebrate Our Love” followed by two duets with Jocelyn Brown “Turn Out The Lights” and “Mind Buster”.
Both tracks on this 7" single are previously unissued 70’s soul tracks, 'Don't Pop The Question (If You Can't Take The Answer)' and 'Good Guys Don't Make Good Lovers'.
Oliver is recording a new CD album that will be released this year
This masterpiece album from Harold Melvin 'Reaching For The World' is now reissued on CD by Vinyl-Masterpiece from the Netherlands. This Philly Soul Gem is a must have for Philly Soul fans. It's recorded in the famous Sigma Sound Studios and produced by Harold Melvin itself. Outstanding track are 'Reaching For The World', 'Where There's A Will - There's A Way', 'After You Love Me, Why Do You Leave Me', the uptempo 'Big Singing Star'. In 1980, Melba Moore recorded, co-produced with the following producers Bruce Hawes and Victor Carstarphen the album “Closer”, which featured the dancer 'Something On Your Mind'. A lot of her albums were re-issued on CD but not this one. PTG is very proud that we finally succeeded in the release of this outstanding album of Melba Moore.
This album is also recorded in the Sigma Sound Studio and that means quality music. If you only look to the artists who did the backing. I name a few: The late Luther Vandross, Ullanda McCullough, Brenda White and Tawatha Agee. Great re-issue.

Is this Cornelius MD or Barry White! Cornelius does sound the same as the master himself. This is a great compliment. The music is just as smooth. No doubt that Cornelius is influenced and inspired by Mister White. In fact he is born on the same day. The album consist of 4 tracks and each of them has a different sound. You could hear influences of Keith Sweat, the guitar licks of the Isley Brothers. |

Another great reissue on Vinyl Masterpiece is the album Any Time Any Place by The Dramatics. Original from 1979 on ABC records (AA-1125). On this record the Dramtics are L.J. Reynolds, Ron Banks, Willie Ford, Lenny Mayes and Larry Demps. The album start with two funky tracks 'I just wanna dance with you' and the even heavier 'Bottom Line Woman'. Followed by the great love song 'That's my favorite song' written by Cecil and Shirley Womack and Don Davis, the latter is also the producer on this album. 'I Think about you' sounds early 70s. The last track on side one, at least on vinyl, is 'Get with the band and dance' a heavy uptempo funk track. > |
