Released in 1978, Future Bound was the third album that Freddie Perren produced for Tavares and was the group's sixth album overall. Once again, Perren sees to it that Tavares provides a healthy blend of up-tempo dance numbers and romantic soul ballads like "Feel So Good" and "All I See Is You", Northern soul ballads that would have fit right in on a Stylistics, Delfonics, or Moments album.

This week I received two albums from a man and wife named Carey hailed from Palm Springs, California. One of the albums is from John Carey and is called 'New Beginnings'. The other album that is called 'Melodic' is from Gina Carey, the wife of John. Both albums are released on their own label Gico Music. John is the guitarist for both albums and Gina give act of her vocal presence on both albums. This duo is phenomenal in making quality soul and smooth jazz. Buy This from CDBABY > |
What do I have to say more about the band T-Connection. It's one of the baddest funk bands since 1975. T-Connection are from Nassau Bahama's and is formed by T-Coakley (Theophilus). They had a few hits during the years. Some hits are 'Do what You Wanna Do', 'At Midnight', 'Groove City' and 'Take It To The Limit'. The latter is also the title track of this album that is reissued on CD by Vinyl Masterpiece.

Orlando Johnson is back with a brand new album 'Funky Time' released on Antibemusic Records. You could know Orlando from 'Orlando Johnson And Trance' from 1983 when he hits the charts with 'Turn The Music On'. This thirteen track album consists of great Boogie tunes as well some dance tracks. Typical eighties boogie sounds. The album is Produced and arranged by Claudio Donato and Orlando. Check this album out. > |

When keyboardist-composer-producer George Duke made a return trip to the heyday of funk on his 2008 recording, Dukey Treats, he reminded his fans and the music press of exactly what made the good old stuff so good. DownBeat called it "a wild and crazy album, especially if you're nostalgic about the guitar-scratching, double-clutching rhythms of James Brown and George Clinton and the bedroom ballads of Stevie Wonder and Aaron Neville." The Philadelphia Enquirer called it simply "a valentine to funk." Duke returns to that same wellspring for Déjà Vu. The album revisits the synthesizer sound that characterized some of his most memorable recordings from the golden age of funk and soul. > |

Combining R & B, Hip-Hop, Reggae, Jazz/Funk and old style soul in heretofore unheard of combination's, Baltimore's GROOVE STU are the versatile architects of "Urban Soul Movement." Not content to construct songs on the foundation of one genre, GROOVE STU sews a million threads of rhythmic inter-connectivity with ethereal hooks that still seem to cook the sidewalks with passion and distinctiveness. While hip-hop energy percolates through the seams of each track, GROOVE STU's expert instrumentalists ground each song with a bed of funk worn musicality. Groove Stu has been exposing audiences to their musical flavor throughout the East Coast. Like Tribeca Blues, Soul Cafe & Le Bar Bat in New York. > |
