Last week Regina Belle released her brand new gospel album 'Higher'on Pendulum records. It's her eighth album in a row with a break of about eight years.

Vinyl-Masterpiece has just reissued Bar-Kays album Dangerous from 1984. It is the successor of their latest album Propositions from 1982. The LP Dangerous is never been released on CD before. Dangerous contains one of Bar-Kays biggest dance floor hits Sexomatic which reached #12 on the Billboard Top R&B Singles chart. Who doesn't know this track! The album itself reached #7 on the Billboard album chart at lasted 44 weeks on this chart. This eight track album is produced by Allen A. Jones, who also wrote all the songs. I just received a digital copy of the debut album of the Berlin based group Funkatized. It is released on march 15. It consist 14 funky, jazzy tracks. It's real funk on a modern beat. They used the real synths, vocoders etc. The tracks are mainly instrumental and it will be a digital release only, meaning it´s only available at Itunes, Napster, and so on. it is something different than soul but pleasant to hear. Last week I received a CD album from John E. Bell for a review. This is John E. Bell's debut album and is called 'Special Occasion Tribute: From Soul To Soul' and is released in 2010 on Excelsior Aliquippa Publishing Company Records. The album is recorded in the Royal Studios in Memphis. This ten track album has some really great soul tunes on it. The more you listen to this album the better songs get. On this album you can hear a mix of slow and mid-tempo soul/gospel songs. For the dutch visitors or foreign visitors, who are in the Netherlands on Tuesday 29th November 2011 at 11:00pm, Dr. John E. Tease, a young quartet making their debut with an excellent album. They hit the funk groove with 'The Note', 'Better Wild (Than Mild)', 'Body heat' and 'Total Control'. But don't let that indicate to you that this band is one-paced because Tease made their first impression on us with a smooth, sweetly harmonised groover called 'Firestarter'. This is equally for 'Soft Music'. An absolute killer tune is 'Baby Be Mine'. Funky Town Grooves from the UK did a great job to reissue this album.
