Commodores - Heroes Heroes was the Commodores 10th album and the last album they recorded with Lionel Richie. This album was released on Motown Records back in 1980. Just like many other Commodores albums it was produced by James Anthony Carmichael. Heroes opens with t
he uptempo funky tune ‘Got To Be Together’, lots of bass, and guitar licks. Celebrate the second tune is a downtempo groovy track with vocoder sounds and nice synths.

The last tracks on side 1 are the slow jams ‘Old Fashion Love’ and the album title song ‘Heroes’. Both tracks reached the billboard R&B singles chart on #8 and #27.

The B side opens with the full of horns, synth track ‘All the Way down’. ‘Sorry To Say’ is an typical funk groove with horns, bass. ‘Wake Up Children’ is a very slooooow track. The same for the last track on this album Jesus is love.

Heroes reached #3 on the billboard r&b chart in 1980. It lasted 39 weeks on this chart.

This album is reissued by Vinyl-Masterpiece from the Netherlands and is now available on CD. Mark Berbiers
