CD Review Confection Print
Confection Superb, Fabulous, Splendid, it's confection, candy for your ears. I'm talking about the selftitled debut album of the australian group Confection. Did I miss this album in the mid 80s? No, not possible, I bought almost everything these days so I probably purchased this album too. I've searched through all my albums near The Jones Girls, Kashif, SOS Band etc. but couldn't find it. I was desperate, so i looked on the net and find out it was a 2007 release distributed by Soulchoonz.com. Was it a reissue? No it wasn't;-)  Wow what an album.

This masterpiece consist of 10 tracks that start with 'I choose U' a 'Keep it Coming' look a like. Nice drums, slap bass and nice melody line. Favourite number one.

'Put me on your playlist' an electro funk tune with nice phatty brass strings. The lead vocals by Juanita are blended with a vocoder sound. 'Flirt' is an moderate uptempo track.

Favourite number two is 'Fantasisin'' a downtempo tune with beats, bells like the SOS bands 'No one's gonna love you'. The slap, pick bass is steady and is always present during the 4'44" (2 short).

The next favourite one, 5'56" minutes of pleasure is 'I've Gotta thing (4U)'. These guys knows their synths loops, licks. A track for the die hard 80s freaks. If this track was really made in the eighties then this will be a rare groove these days.

'Diamonds' is the cover of Herb Alpert's Diamonds, with Janet Jackson. This cover can withstand the original. Same power. The added some extra percussion. This is also 5 star track even it's a cover.

The downtempo moody 'Lovers or best Friends' is like candy for your ear. Nice sang by Juanita that fit perfectly into the nicely produced music.

Again 5'27" entertaining. Track number eight 'Feel It Comin''. Once more nice synths, muted guitar, altogether a perfect match. Already seven 5 star tracks. And still two tracks to come.

When you start track number nine it's like you start a track from the debut album of kashif. Nice 'Kashif' guitar licks, synths, strings.

The last track on this albums is 'Stuck' is a slowtempo song. Juanita leads perfectly on this mellow track.

Conclusion a must have album. I'm already looking forward to their next album.
