CD review Peabo Bryson 'Missing You' Print
Peabo Bryson newest CD missing you Peabo Bryson is back on the soul scene. After 8 years of silence he finally recorded a new, his twentieth, album 'Missing You' and for the first time on Peak records.  On this album he collaborate with less and well known artists. When I opened the envelope and read the back cover information I knew that this album would be great. The reason is Barry J. Eastmond, he produced mainly this album

'Missing you' contains of variety type of songs from smooth ballads to r&b urban. This album is a special dedication to his sister and mother.

The first track 'Heavenly', written by Barry Eastmond / Jolyon Skinner / Jonathan Butler, is heavenly and it's not the only one. A very good start of this promising CD. This smooth r&b track, with beautiful background vocals by Claude Kelly, is Produced by Barry, who also did all keyboards and drum programming. Ray Bardani did the final mix.

I don't have to tell you about the quallity of Peabo's voice, it's just sublime, like usual.

'Waiting For Tomorrow' is a downtempo nowadays R&B track written by Peabo and Regina Troupe, a former background singer of Peabo. Both produced this track.

The title track 'Missing you' is a ballad about his sister and mother. Both of whom Peabo lost. With lyrics such as: like stars falling from heaven, like tears falling from my eyes, over a nice piano and Peabo's voice. I don't need to say more.

Track #6 'To love About' is a downtempo Soul, Urban type of song on which Peabo plays some driving acoustic lead guitar. The man proves he still has the goods to gracefully contend with today's younger R&B stalwarts.

Norman Connors produced the adult contemporary power ballad 'Don;t Make Me Cry'. Co_producer is Bobby Lyle who also did the string and rhythm arrangements. On bass Freddie Washington, on drums Leon 'Ndugu' Chandler, saxophone is played by Boney James and last and not least on guitar Paul Jackson Jr. Do I need say more.

'10.000 Reasons', one of my favourite tracks of this album is written by Peabo himself. This tracks guitarist and Peak Records labelmate is Norman Brown, who he's toured with the last two year's on Brown's "Summer Storm" all-star revue. They created a nice piece of music.

The ballad 'I Try', a cover song, composed and made famous by one of the founding females of smooth jazz vocals, Ms. Angela Bofill. Never released as a single from her classic sophomore album Angel of the Night (1979), "I Try" is nevertheless the greatest hit of Bofill's career (and her Purple Bull Publishing). Peabo, along with special guest and Peak recording artist Paul Taylor on alto sax, handle this gem with tender loving care.

The last song on this 11 track CD is 'My last Goodbye'. I don't hope that this title is true because Peabo may live forever as long he make this kind of albums.

My favourite tracks are 'Heavenly', 'Waitning for Tomorrow', 'Missing you' and '10.000 Reasons'. Give me 10.000 reasons not to buy this album.
