Album Review Brown's Bag - Soul Satisfied Print
Brown's Bag - Soul SatisfiedBrown's bag's CD Soul Satisfied is climbing fast on the charts in the UK, Japan and other countries. It has already reached #1 on some charts in the UK. The reviews, in Blues & Soul, Soul Nation, Solar and SoulExpress, are overwhelming. This is "Real Soul", "TOP" are the keywords for Soul Satisfied. Ward Brown, inspired by Gladys Knight, Teddy Pendergrass, Frankie Berverly, McFadden & Whitehead and Gamble & Huff, produced, wrote his second album for SoulChoonz records and he did a fantastic job I can say. This twelve track CD is a mixture of slow and uptempo songs.
The first track  "You Touch My Heart" blends mellow music with beautiful vocals of Ward and his friend Sherrod Brown. The second track "You Love Me*" has some nice chords that drive this song.

"You're Contagious*" already been a hit in UK is so smooth, it's just like riding a Bentley, the wah wah guitar and strings, vocals, no wonder it's a hit in the UK.

The uptempo song "Me Around" with guitar licks, bells, horns is influenced from the eighties.

For the slow tempo song "More Than Friends*" the only thing I can say is: Is this song from the past or what?

Just Perfect are my only comments for track six "Stay*".

You can hear that Ward Brown is inspired by the Philly sound of Gamble & Huff  and McFadden & Whitehead on few tracks on this CD. One of this track is "Can't Let Go*". It has that typical Philly sound. I thought I was hearing a Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes song. No further comments.

"Toss N Turn*" I think a Maze inspired song with the sound of conga's, strings and muted guitar.

The music of the song "Rain*" sounds like "you are my starship" by Norman Connors. You will, certainly I, start to sing "you are my starship" after the first fade. Nice melody perfect vocals.

The last two tracks "No More Love*" and "Things you say*" are mixed by Marc Mitchell. You can say that he did a good job.

Soul Satisfied is distributed by Soulchoonz records in the UK. On this website you can preview all of his tracks.

I can recommend this CD to all Soul fans. - Mark Berbiers
